  • Original/Reproduction: Original
  • Year: 1958 1959

  • Condition: Faint name on the back of the thumb (above "A Rawlings Claw") and a doodle "L" at the bottom of the backside of the thumb. Also LUKE written in marker on backside of mitt, which can still be read. The backside also has some small dark spots here and there. The inside stamping is all readable with just a little silver still showing here and there. A nice intact red Rawlings patch on the back. The leather is still soft on this quality mitt. Interior leather is soft but has chafing and is torn up where the first two fingers end up inside. After I listed this I realized a couple of lace holes by the bottom of the pinky side were missing the laces. So I added some lace there now and added one more picture to show you that. A nice display mitt from the mid 1950's.

    Description

Here is a vintage 1954 or 1955 Rawlings George McQuinn The Claw Trapper Model T80 baseball 1st baseman’s mitt or glove for a RH thrower.  The glove has soft leather piping which is decent for the most part. The professional mitt is adult size and measures 12″ long through the pocket. Quality  reddish-brown leather. This model 1st base mitt was only made in 1954 and 1955 and was the 2nd highest quality mitt made (selling for $24.00 both years) while the top line Stan Musial T70RY mitt sold for $26.50 those same two years. So it was well made.

I have other gloves and mitts on eBay ending now and I like to combine shipping whenever possible. If you win more than one glove you’ll have to pay the grand total for shipping. But I’ll refund you the difference back on the price of combined shipping. Or I’ll send out an invoice if possible.
